Messaging Terms
These terms cover the Beacon Peak text message program. Signing up means agreeing to them.
The program
Program name: Beacon Peak. Beacon Peak sends announcement and reminder text messages for community and congregational groups in Alpine, Utah: schedule changes, event details, and time-sensitive notices. Messages are one-way. The alert number is not staffed for conversation, and no marketing, promotional, or third-party content is sent through it.
How you join
There are exactly two ways onto a list, and both are your own action:
- You submit the sign-up form on this site and tick the consent box, which is never ticked for you.
- You turn on text message communication yourself, in your own account, in the membership application of a group you belong to. That setting stays yours to change, and changing it there changes what you receive here.
Each sign-up covers the program you signed up for. Being on one list does not put you on another.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. Beacon Peak charges nothing; whatever your mobile plan charges for a text is between you and your carrier. Consent to receive messages is not a condition of any purchase.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message. That stops every list at once, not just the one the message came from. You will receive one confirmation and no further messages. Reply START to rejoin, or email support@beaconpeak.org and we will remove you by hand.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any message for the program name and contact details, or email support@beaconpeak.org.
Who can sign up
You must be 18 or older, and the number must be a US mobile that you use yourself - your own phone, whether or not the account is in your name. Do not enter someone else's number, even with their permission: consent has to come from the person holding the phone, so ask them to sign up themselves.
Carriers and delivery
Messages are delivered over the major US mobile carriers. Delivery is not guaranteed: carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and neither is Beacon Peak. Do not rely on a text message as the only warning in an emergency.
Your information
What we collect and how it is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy. Mobile information from opt-in will never be shared or sold to third parties or lead generators.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and the new version is posted here before it takes effect.
